CORN VADA / MOKKAJONNA GARELU

INGREDIENTS:

Corn kernels : 1 cup
Green chillies : 6
Urad dal : 2 tspoons (soak atleast for 1hr)
Jeera : 1/2 tspoon
Onion : 4 (medium); finely chopped
Salt : to taste
Oil : for deep fry


METHOD:

  • Coarsely grind corn kernels (1 cup), soaked & drained urad dal, jeera, green chillies, don't grind it too smooth.
  • To this coarse paste - add salt, onions & mix well.
  • Make the shape of vada with that paste on your palm, meanwhile heat oil for deep fry.
  • When oil is hot, reduce the flame to medium & fry these vadas to golden brown colour on both sides & place on a kitchen towel to absorb oil.
  • Serve and tastes good with tomato sauce.
NOTE : 
  1. Urad dal can be substituted with maida/ rice flour also
  2. Can also add coriander & curry leaves to the paste
  3. Be cautious about salt, it takes less.
